Initial September rains was not enough to kick start vegetation growth and resulted in the veld deteriorating, and some pregnant animals were showing signs of less food being available in the natural area than they require. Feeding was not decreased as previously planned and will be monitored and reduced as rainfall increases and as the veld shows new growth.
October rains, even though still far below what is required, got the green vegetation to appear, and some tree species have already started showing some new green leaves. With this, some animals still use the feed provided in an addition to the new green vegetation available, but some have found the green vegetation to be more appealing and only feed on the new vegetation.
